Our committee is interested in many issues and to better inform our neighbors of our purpose we would like to list some of the most significant and long-lasting work we are or would like to be involved in.

  • Promoting the establishment of local conservation funds for land conservation work.
  • Being stewards of municipal lands.
  • Inventorying the natural and cultural resources in our town so we know what is most important to conserve before it is too late.
  • Promoting local economies, especially those of the working landscape.
  • Encouraging a land ethic and respect for all living things with whom we share our communities.
  • Creating opportunities for townspeople to recreate and celebrate living more closely with the land.
  • Working to prevent or stop polluting activities.
  • Identify and inventory open lands and properties of community significance to the Town of Benson
  • Provide means to accept land grants and trail easements to be enjoyed by current and future generations
  • Prepare, collect and publish data on our natural resources and conservation activities for Benson
  • Be a resource for the Planning Commission and Selectmen for researching possible projects and making recommendations to them.
  •    We encourage any Benson resident who would like to work on these types of projects to contact us or attend our monthly meetings.
