The Benson First Response was formed in 1984 and has been very active in the community. The First Response members responded to 67 medical and trauma calls in the last licensing year. They also provide standby at fire scenes and perform firefighter rehab. Members have assisted with the ongoing development of the Rapid Response Plan for the Town of Benson and the Crisis Response Plan for the Benson Village School

Successful fundraising events, coordinated and sponsored by the Benson First Response, are scheduled throughout the year:

  • The annual Rabies clinic in March is held at the Fire Department and First Response building in town and gives area residents the chance to get their dogs and cats vaccinated without having to leave town. The Town Clerk is also available that day to register dogs.

  • The annual Craft Sale in November is held at the Benson Village School. This has become a very popular event with more than 20 vendors selling a variety of quality handmade crafts, paintings, jewelry, and more.

  • The annual Memory Tree lighting event in December is held outside the Town Hall. Last year, there were over 300 names of loved ones honored at this event. There are refreshments, caroling and a special visit from Santa!

A reminder to residents of all towns – it is very important that you have your 9-1-1 house number signs posted and kept clear of snow in the winter. Please help us to better help you when you need us. Every second counts!! Call the Town Clerk today to pick up your house sign.
